Although I discovered photography when I was a kid, as my father was a keen photographer, I only got seriously into it when I bought my very first analogue SLR camera, a Canon EOS300, back in 2001. At the time my main purpose was to take nice souvenir photographs when travelling with my wife. But destiny decided otherwise as I became instantly a complete passionate about this artistic medium.

My background is electronic and software engineering so when I started I didn't know much at all about photography. Depth of field, aperture, hyperfocal, etc were still a mystery to me. So I taught myself more or less everything I know now simply through reading photographic books and magazines and of course through a lot of practice.
My love for nature and the outdoor has naturally pushed me towards landscape photography more than anything else. But in the more general sense, it is capturing colourful images that really attracts me, be it an amazing natural landscape bathed in an amazing light or simply a building lit by a nice combination of artificial lights.
Being based in the Swiss Alps right beside the Geneva Lake (Lac Léman in French) I am in the heart of an amazing photographic playground! Only fifteen minutes and I can be in the middle of the mountains. As a nature lover with a passion for photography, this is a privilege that I will never cease to treasure.

On the equipment side, today I work with the Canon EOS1Ds MkIII, one of the greatest digital SLR currently available on the market, combined with a selection of lenses from 17 to 400mm of focal lens. This is, as far as I am concerned, the best compromise between quality and flexibility for the type of photography that I do, which involves a lot of mountain walking, often with all the necessary equipment for several days of autonomy in the wild. One of my main goals being to produce high quality fine art prints, this camera is what provides the closest quality to medium format cameras (digital or analogue) but with the flexibility and comfort of the 36mm type of equipment. This is even more so for digital panorama photography using the stitching method.

Today my passion for photography is stronger then ever and strengthens by the day. All the moments spent immersed amongst nature and particularly the mountains are as unique as precious. This is where I feel most at ease, far from our modern society which disappoints me more every day.
But when I find myself surrounded by these beautiful landscapes bathed in the most pleasing light, while I am photographing I wished that all the people of the world could be beside me, so they could appreciate with their own eyes the sheer beauty of these natural spectacles. But most of the time I am alone, as the times at which such spectacles do occur are usually very early in the morning or late in the evening, far from all commodities and often in uncomfortable weather conditions. But bringing back beautiful photographs is as close as I can get from this desire of sharing these special moments with others. I believe this is also for this reason that I enjoy so much showing my work, my ultimate goal being to share with the rest of the world the sheer splendour of what nature keeps offering to us so graciously.

Finally, I can only hope that you will get as much pleasure from viewing these photographs as I get from taking them.

First of all I would like to dedicate this website to my wife Julia. One can only imagine the patience she can have for me to be able to produce the pictures you can enjoy seeing on this website. I also want to thank her for all her precious advice and opinion.

I also want to thank, Christelle Wantz, Gary Timms and Georges Grasset who have been supporting my work from the first Velvia slides I have shot, and also for that special friendship.

I want to send some special thanks to Mr André Cottier for his incredible help in correcting the French version of all the picture descriptions.

Finally I want to thank my parents for having put me on the right path in life from the start and to have given me this ever so important love of the nature, a nature that requires today more then ever all our respect and protection.
